I use a Norwegian program (Embla) to record my datas. Then I make a gedcom-file and make a database with the GeneaWeb program. When I make a gedcom-file from GeneaWeb, I can use the DFT-compiler.

Before ca 1900 common Norwegians did not use family surnames. They was christened with a given name, and no surname. They then added an individual patronymic name or/and the farm name (the address). Embla has one column for the patronymic name, and I record the farm name as the "last name".
