Alfriston School is a full primary school with approximately 300 pupils. Although Alfriston School is 106 years old little remains from that era as part of the school was rebuilt ten years ago and additional facilities have continued to be added to cater for the increased roll growth since then. Alfriston School is situated in a rural oasis, just six kilometres east of Manurewa. The majority of pupils come from mainly professional families; many choosing to live on lifestyle blocks. The school roll is growing rapidly as the land north of the school is developed into new housing blocks. |

The community has high expectations and pride in its school; it also offers full and complete support in its many activities; this has helped to develop a strong bond between parents and the school. The staff believe that the close co-operation between home and school is vital for effective intellectual growth, and look forward to contact with parents. They particularly welcome and appreciate assistance with class activities and involvement in sporting and cultural pursuits. Kind regards, Jim Ball |
In 1999 the Ministry of Education constructed a new library, computer centre and administration block. These facilities, along with a recently built playground, three new shade areas, a swimming pool and an extensive planting programme have created an attractive environment appreciated by the whole school community.
